GARCIA-BBM worked with the local council of Siero in Asturias from the design stage through to the construction stage of the project.
The Auditorium-Theatre building forms part of a cultural complex promoted by the Siero Council. It comprises a main Hall and a multi-purpose Hall, both rectangular with concrete finishes.
GARCIA-BBM recommended the slope of the audience area, the shape of the ceiling and its position so as to be able to adjust the volume of the Hall according to its different uses. A series of lateral reflectors were designed by GARCIA-BBM which ensure that the necessary lateral energy reaches the audience and diffuses the sound.
GARCIA-BBM's experience and the use of computer software to simulate the acoustic behaviour of the Halls offered the appropriate solutions to any changes in the building's design.
Throughout the construction stage of the project, GARCIA-BBM visited the site to supervise these modifications. Noise from service areas and stage equipment was controlled and 'in-situ' measurements carried out to ensure that the acoustic parameters defined at the design stage were obtained.
